The NFC-e (Nota Fiscal de Consumidor Eletrônica) is Brazil's electronic receipt-style invoice for end consumers, a simplified version of the NF-e. It has a very clearly defined scope: under Brazilian tax law (Ajuste SINIEF 19/2016), the NFC-e applies only to in-person retail where the consumer is present (venda presencial) — for example, checkout at the register, paying the bill at a restaurant table, shopping at a convenience store, or filling up at a gas station.
Remote sales (venda à distância), such as cross-border e-commerce, phone orders and online store orders, cannot use the NFC-e — they must use the NF-e (modelo 55). This boundary is explicitly defined by Brazil's Receita Federal and must not be confused. If your business is online e-commerce, please use the NF-e API.
Every NFC-e carries a QR Code that lets the consumer scan to verify the invoice's authenticity on the official SEFAZ page — a standard feature of Brazilian consumer protection. The consumer's CPF on an NFC-e is optional, emphasizing the "instant receipt" experience, and it is governed by each state's SEFAZ. If you operate a physical business in Brazil but cannot produce an NFC-e, consumers can file a complaint with Procon (the consumer protection agency).
From checkout to NFC-e authorization in an average of under 1 second. Supports both synchronous and asynchronous modes: synchronous mode suits PDV registers that need to print a receipt immediately; asynchronous mode suits self-checkout terminals, mobile POS, offline caching and other scenarios where issuance can be batched and reconciled later.
Every NFC-e automatically embeds the standard SEFAZ QR Code, so consumers can scan to view invoice details and verify authenticity. This QR Code is a mandatory field for NFC-e compliance.
Provides a simplified DANFE (DANFE NFC-e) — more compact than the NF-e version and suited to thermal receipt printing (58mm / 80mm). Email PDF delivery is also supported.
During major sales events such as Singles' Day and Black Friday, a single tenant can peak at 200+ TPS. Built-in request queuing, rate-limit protection and automatic retries for SEFAZ errors.
We offer a standard RESTful API and a lightweight SDK that integrate with your existing PDV software, restaurant POS, chain-store ERP or self-checkout terminals, and also support fast integration when domestic retail ERP / restaurant SaaS expand into Brazil. After the register completes a scan-and-pay checkout, the NFC-e is issued within 1–3 seconds and automatically printed on a thermal receipt printer or pushed to the consumer's phone as a QR Code. NFC-e issuance is included in all TF Fiscal plans; see Pricing for details. Customers with high invoicing volumes, Singles' Day / Black Friday sales events, or a need for a dedicated resource pool can contact sales for a customized enterprise solution.
